2017 Has kicked off with an excelent start with 11 winners now on the board the team has worked very hard this year and rearly do deserve the winners it started at southwell in january with pancake day with finnly marsh then archimedis under josephine gordan who  also won at southwell then storm king finally got rewarded for his consistant placings and won at southwell again under finley marsh. David allan retturned from india winning  on tavener who also has been ultra consistant all winter he won at wolverhampton then went on to win at lingfield in fine style under oisin murphy tavener  then went on to do an across the card double for the team winning at mussleburgh under david allan again whilst down south at lingfield  brother tiger got back to winning ways sds. Chester may meeting kicked off with storm king winning the class 3 with dave allan. lucky beggar had also  been running great at the start of the season and finally broke a long drougt from 2014 to win at weatherby you couldnt help but be impressed with the style he did it agin under dave allan on to york dante meeting with duke of firenze trying to retain his crown on a mark of 103 the previous year winning off 90  diffrent ground conditions being soft not good to firm like 2016 again duke improved again and won easily  taking his mark to 107 again under dave allan. Take cover had his first start of the year at haydock at ran well he heads to royal ascot for the kings stand and then aims for glorious goodwood to retain his king george crown . Lucky beggar than won in good style again at catterick again under dave allan we have been very happy with his progress this year and looks like he may return to his smart sprinting days.  whilst storm king and duke of firenze headed down south to epsom storm ran a great race and was very unlucky the last furlong having interferance in running.Derby day arrived and the duke was in the epsom dash a race he ran 3rd in last year off 94 this year of 107  this year the duke put his best foot forward again fiishing a fast finishing 3rd beatten a short head and a nose this was a huge performancefrom him and yet agin the handicapper has given him 2 lb more so 109 is his new mark he gets in the mussleburgh sprint cup of 107 so this has to be an option now then it looks like group races will beckon withe the nunthorpe and the abbey being the main two assinments for him `it has been a great year up to now we could not do this with out the team inside dcg and out and all the great owners in the yard the horses are in great form and are thriving from there racing we feel very proud to have runners at all the big meetings this year its very excitting lets hope for the rest of the year to go as well in 2017 and good luck to all our owners and horses.

2017 seems to have kicked off well with pancake day winning at southwell giving apprentice Finley Marsh his first winner.

Archemedis then also won at southwell in lovley style we look forward to the quick summer ground with him now as he is having a quick holiday.

We  have had quite a few placed horses as well in storm king and  tavener who both seem to have come up agaist one when both finishing 2nd.

the sales then kicked off with three horses leaving for the sales and have all gone to germany.

we are all very much looking forwrd to the turf season now with the two year olds all going nicely and the flat horses that have had the winter off seeming fresh rejuvanated and ready to go as soon as the first meeting comes up.

We have a few new team members from the start of the new year its always nice to have a good team to try and hit the ground running in the new year. All we need now is it to stop raining for a start  as i think everyone is in the same boat right now.

FLASH BACK ON 2016

2016

This year has been a fantastic year for the team with Take Cover raising the bar again winning the Qatar King George group 2 for a 2nd time the only horse to win it in 2014 loose his crown, by a neck last year in the 2015 renewal and claim his crown back in 2016 with one of the most gutsy wins the 9 year old has ever produced. He also won the Achilles listed stakes at Haydock and running an amazing 3rd in the Coolmore Nunthorpe stakes group 1 a tricky race for him, that has become a little unlucky for him, hitting his head in the stalls in 2014 and in 2015 being withdrawn for being over enthusiastic and bursting the stalls. He never fails to keep us on our toes in 2016 he tried his best again to cause a drama by trying to bolt even though, he is lead to the start it must just be the group one voodoo he appears to have again causing drama in France trying to reenact his 2015 Nunthorpe debacle . Regardless of his craziness when his head is in one piece he is one of the fastest sprinters in Europe.

The sprinters have definitely done the team proud.

Brother Tiger has broken the track record at Chelmsford over 5 f and continues to hold it up to now.

Duke of Firenze has been an excellent purchase at 16,000 from the Tattersalls horses in training sale at Newmarket in october 2015. Winning at York on Dante day off a mark of 90 running 3rd in both heritage handicaps over 5f at Mussleburgh and Epsom then 5th in the Qatar Stewards cup at Goodwood. He was so unlucky to miss out by a nose at York in the Symphony stakes. this booked him a trip to France for the group 1 Prix de le Abbey along with Take Cover, he ran the race of his life finishing 6th this was his first ask in group one company and showed he has that class and ability to travel abroad and still run to expectations ending the year on a mark 105 he is a super exciting horse for 2017.

L C Saloon went in the stalls this felt like a win in its self after the issues he has caused a big thanks to the excellent Witherford team too. He then went on to win his maiden at Thirsk showing exceptional speed for a 3 year old he lost his way after this so has gone for a holiday. I still believe he could be anything if his brain channels the right way hopefully his vacation will solve this.

Lopito De Vega has returned from the sales to the team, he has been a consistent horse all year he has guts and a big heart he has done well for his rest. I expect him to progress further in 2017 for new connections.

We have a good team for the all weather season with some new horses joining the team and some exciting new horses for the turf.

I would like to thank my team for the hard work in 2016 keep it up its not quite over yet, and a big thank you to all the owners in 2016 for their loyalty and the fun we have had training your lovely horses we hope you all have enjoyed it too.

Lets hope we have an even better 2017 season.
